Remembering Riley

This is a study that combines the paintings of several masters with some ideas that I was contemplating.The figure in the background is a line drawing of Venus of Urbino (Titian -1538), while the figure in the foreground is taken from an earlier renaissance painting (perhaps by Nicolas Poussin?)and the background landscape is from a third painting. While the prop that is holding the glass might appear a bit Dalinean, the twisting tubes and the glass are of my own invention

An installation of two very large paintings confront visitors leaving the auditorium of Flood. I created two similar, yet markedly distinct abstract paintings to inspire thought, discussion and perhaps a bit of introspection.
